Numbers Radio

Numbers Radio are high energy Rock n’ Roll at it’s freshest and most potent. Their fast
paced, thumping rock tunes are balanced with sing-along choruses and harmonies that
transform the songs into anthems. There’s a rawness and a purity balanced with a tight and
solid sound that’s not unfamiliar yet hard to pin down - It’s their own. The band consists of
Dave Orr (guitars/vocals) Robbie Carlyon (bass/vocals) Mark Henman (drums) and while
Numbers Radio seem to have sprung out of nowhere these guys have extensive experience
playing in various Brisbane bands including Blowhard, Resin Dogs, Afro Dizzi Act and Hip
Pocket. Starting out as a side project to enable the rock monster within it soon became
obvious that there was something special emerging from their spontaneous and prolific
songwriting – not unlike the perfect combination of people, time and place.

Numbers Radio could very well be the most exciting new band to spring from the Brisbane
scene in years. They’ve already set the airwaves on fire with their infectious hit “Come On”
lifted from their self-titled debut EP (out now on Valley Trash Records). The EP was recorded
with Jeff Lovejoy of Black Box fame and most of the tracks were recorded in one explosive
session that captured the energy of a live performance to tape. The end result is 5
exceptional songs that can easily hold their own. While there’s a real affinity for Australian
influences there’s also an international quality to the Numbers Radio sound and this can be
heard throughout the EP.

After being unearthed by Triple J the band were given their first real taste of national
exposure with “Come On” being added to high rotation. The EP has also gathered momentum
with community radio and the film clip for “Come On” has been featured as Indie Clip of the
Week by Rage and has been added to JTV and Channel V. Video Hits recently aired the clip
as well as an interview with the band at Valley Fiesta where they won a spot on the bill
courtesy of a Triple J competition. The Js also featured the band in their Next Crop promotion
and Numbers Radio were nominated for the Unearthed J Award in November 2008. As a live
band these guys serve up a tight and energetic performance that’s impossible to ignore.
Since releasing the EP, Numbers Radio have been busy rocking stages on the east coast
(including a stellar performance at Homebake 08) and there will be loads of national touring in
the very near future. The band is currently in the studio finishing off their debut album due for
release in June 2009 and the first unofficial single, "Boring", has already hit the airwaves.

Stay tuned to the Numbers Radio frequency, this is just the beginning…
