Playing packed-out venues in New Zealand since 2002, The Mint Chicks (singer and wurlitzer piano player Kody Nielson, bassist Michael Logie, drummer Paul Roper and guitarist Ruban Nielson) have climbed all the P.A's, back flipped off all the drum risers, bloodied all the fingers, scrapped all the haters, broken all the hearts, ripped all the clothing, bashed all the microphones and smashed all the bottles in preparation for the release of their newest and most exciting record: 'Crazy?Yes!Dumb? No!' , out November 25.

The Mint Chicks are now bringing their live show back to Oz, with tour dates announced for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in December.

The Mint Chicks signed to legendary NZ label Flying Nun Records back in 2003. The 'Octagon, Octagon, Octagon' EP came that year, the following year, a single ‘Blue Team Go!' came out on the highly respected Fierce Panda label in the UK (hyped as a “ one minute masterpiece ” by Kerrang!). They released their second EP 'Anti-Tiger' in 2004, then 'F**k the Golden Youth', their debut album came next, which Australia 's Blunt magazine called “ One of the best albums of 2005” . The band has played support slots for the White Stripes, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, the Blood Brothers and many more…

'Crazy?Yes!Dumb? No!' has been mastered by the legendary Howie Weinberg (responsible for albums by The White Stripes, Nirvana, The Beastie Boys, & Gorillaz to name a few) at Masterdisk in New York . Thought you knew The Mint Chicks? Think again…

Brant Bjork - desert boogieman -  returns in December for a brief round of Aussie dates with his band, The Bros, in tow.

However, this is The Bros as never seen before.

With the recent departure of Mike Peffer from the Bros' drum stool, please welcome the one & only Mr Alfredo Hernandez to the kit, joining Dylan Roche (Bass) and Cortez (guitar) to make up The Bros (and that is Bros as in "rhymes with Afros", just so we get the pronunciation correct).

Stoner rock aficionados will know Alfredo as the drummer who actually replaced Brant in Kyuss, appearing only on the band's final release ...And The Circus Leaves Town. He also drummed on Queens Of The Stone Age's debut self titled album and toured briefly with Mondo Generator in 2004.

Musically speaking The Bros bring it. Organic Rock. It grooves. It Flows. It's psychedelic. It's tough. It's beautiful. It's classic.

Scorpion Entertainment proudly presents Grammy award winning Black Metal Lords SATYRICON. After more than a decade of pounding uncompromising Norwegian Black Metal, SATYRICON will be showcasing their live ceremonies of black metal supremacy to Australian audiences in December.

Never the ones to shy away from daring musical experimentation, the raw energy and hatred this band has consistently spewed forth is yet unmatched.

Their recently released album 'Now, Diabolical" (Roadrunner Records) adds a new spin on the black metal art, with more concentrated melodies, SATYRICON takes the listener on an expedition into the musical logic behind the darkest emotions.

Satyricon's demonic vocals coupled with Frost's relentless percussion attack, accompanied by their live band members, SATYRICON will leave you shattered in a void beyond normal reality. Never so far has black metal shown such force and now has come the time for Australian audiences to view this spectacular act in all their grim darkness.

Dare you witness the experience that is SATYRICON?

An all-time classic of Australian punk, Nobody Likes A Thinker was Sydney band Massappeal's glorious introduction to the world. Originally released by Waterfront Records in 1986, this pioneering slab of vibrant skate punk and hardcore was recently remastered for this brand new double-disc CD reissue on Chatterbox Records. Packaged in Ben Brown's now legendary Choose Life cover artwork with a special 20-page booklet featuring rare photographs and extended liner notes, this massive 38-track collection expands on the original mini-album with a host of bonuses such as the '87 Fun Again single, as well as rare live and demo tracks. Also includes two free stickers.

Also released...... Ahead of its time when released in November 1989, Jazz, the Magnum Opus by well-respected Sydney hardcore foursome Massappeal, has remained an unattainable benchmark in original Australian punk and metal. A breathtaking blend of hardcore, thrash metal and angular rock, it is one of those albums that stands outside of any one genre - an album built to stand the test of time. Originally issued as a double-LP by Waterfront Records, all 13 tracks have been compiled onto one CD for this special re-release by Chatterbox Records. Newly remastered, it has never sounded more relevant. With metal sounds now cutting deep into the punk and hardcore scene, the world finally appears to have caught up with Jazz. (Also includes two free stickers).

Massappeal will be playing live to celebrate the re-issues;

Fri NOV 24 - SYDNEY, Annandale Hotel (w/ 1,2 Seppuku & Twin City Faction)
Tickets $15 at the door on the night only

Fri DEC 1 - MELBOURNE, Green Room (w/ ABC Weapons & Mispent Youth)
Tickets $15 at the door on the night only

Massappeal - Jazz and Nobody Likes A Thinker (2CD) reissued Sat, 18 November 2006.

"Basically, we wanted to brutalize people and have each song punch people in the face and not let up until they were choking on their own blood. None of this eyeliner-wearing, cupcake shit—just putting listeners' open ears on the curb and stomping on their heads." Sal Gallegos, Some Girls

The above is good an intro as any to Some Girls, a five-piece unit of punk pedigree hailing from San Diego, California. Sure, the group is comprised of the crème de le crass of musicians from the city's famed hardcore/punk underground, but that's not really the most important thing about Some Girls. Juicy quotes and name checks of the influential groups Some Girls' members have played in (the Locust, American Nightmare, Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower, Unbroken) are fine and good, but all you really need to do to understand what Some Girls are about is to listen to their music—if you can handle it.

Some Girls began in early 2002 when singer Wes Eisbold (American Nightmare) and guitarist Rob Moran (ex-Unbroken) spoke of putting together a fast and noisy hardcore band that would "fuck people up." The very next day, drummer and Two Miles Till Iocon studios owner Sal Gallegos was called in to assist Eisbold and Moran with their mission and, within a few sweaty hours, the first Some Girls songs were born

Now, after a few releases on cool indie labels, and a couple of line up changes, Some Girls are heading to Australia to promote their recently released Epitaph debut "Heaven's Pregnant Teens" in June...

With Heaven's Pregnant Teens, the group has honed its white knuckled assault down to 25 minutes of unrelenting musical psychosis while adding new dimensions of brutality to their now-trademark thrash attack. Throughout the album's thirteen tracks, complex time changes invert riffs on their heads as layers of guitars trample each other before spreading out into electrified tendrils. Bassist Justin Pearson's fuck fuzz-soaked bass and drummer Sal Gallegos' unremitting percussive attack provide a manic backdrop to singer Wes Eisold's frantic caged dog vocal assailments. In short, it's a musical mindfuck. From the cannon shot intro of the album's crushing opener "Beautiful Rune" to the death drone of its nine-minute closing suite "Deathwish," Heaven's Pregnant Teens is a document of five twisted musical minds making the most gloriously deranged noise producer Alex Newport (At The Drive In, The Locust, Sepultura) could commit to tape.

Canadian hip-hop artist, MC and turntablist extraordinaire Buck 65 is heading to Australia in support of his latest release, Secret House Against The World (Warner Music).  The brainchild and alter ego of Richard Terfry, Buck 65 has garnered critical acclaim (including praise from Radiohead and Vincent Gallo) around the world for his extraordinary blend of country-flavoured beats and Tom Waits-styled vocals.

Originally signed to the influential Anticon label, Buck 65 is often credited for kickstarting the avant-garde underground hip-hop movement in the late 90's.   Not content with his success as a solo artist, Buck 65 recently joined forces with a number of full-time musicians as well as uber-producers Tortoise, D-Styles, Gonzales and PJ Harvey's long-time collaborator, Head, to produce genre-bending music that defies categorisation.

Main support comes from Sydney act, The Bird , who bring their unique take on electronic dance to the table.  Festival favourites from Glastonbury to WOMAD, The Bird have been wowing crowds with their intoxicating live interpretations of drum'n'bass, breakbeats, dub and hip-hop for over ten years.  Throw in a few sounds from the Asian underground, and The Bird will not disappoint [All shows except The Great Northern].

Support also arrives in the form of Curse ov Dialect .  Dubbed the 'multicultural Public Enemy', Curse ov Dialect draws on the Maltese, Macedonian, Indian, Maori, and Pakistani backgrounds of its members to produce political hip-hop at its most enthralling.   Skillfully balancing melodic samples and classic drums with world class turntablism, it's easy to see why they were the first Australian hip-hop act ever to be signed and released in the US [All shows except @Newtown].

"Make no mistake about it, we are a revolutionary, anti-capitalist, Marxist, Communist rock band," The (International) Noise Conspiracy lead singer Dennis Lyxzen says. The Swedish quartet, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "rock's most politically radical band," are coming down under once again to rock our world. presented by Scorpion Entertainment.

The Rick Rubin-produced Armed Love , the group's third proper American full-length album, following the critically lauded Survival Sickness and A New Morning, Changing Weather on Epitaph, captures the fist-pumping live energy that has earned the group spots on the Warped Tour and the prestigious Coachella festival multiple times, as well as an invitation to this summer's Lollapalooza soiree in Chicago. Everywhere INC goes, Lyxzen invites fans to put on their dancing shoes and shake their hips, a request that concertgoers are powerless to decline when confronted with INC's high-energy R&B meets punk-rock attack.

Lyxzen states "And I promised myself that every time I get on stage or every time we do something, it has to be meaningful. It's always been the goal with this band to inspire people to do something other than just being passive consumers or go to the show and buy a t-shirt, but actually take something home with you and try to make sense of your life, your surroundings, the economical, political, and cultural structures around you.

Now, with the band's explosive stage show, energetic rockers, and politicized statements, tickets go on sale, Thursday March 2nd: below are the dates and ticket details:

SEKIDENER COMING…

Brisbane's wonder popbots SEKIDEN finally re-emerge from their junior fiction with their summer crashing hit-pic tune-arama UP IN THE AIR... 2 years in the making, baking in the sweltering heat has burned its impact on these chords – all grinding teeth and lost friends. Having spent too much time overseas in Canada, USA and Japan on the last album, they have seen the way to light this latest effort. Up in the Air is the first single from the new album Sound Instincts due in early April on Valve… and also destined for release later in the year in Canada, USA and Europe on the indie label Boompa.

To set the lightning racing Sekiden hits the road with beloved dudez, the cultural exorcizer SPOD. Fuckkk yeah…cast your body aside, catch the rythmnz of the infernal championz, and check the traction. In his first tour since it got cold, get set to stir the heat of this battlefield luvver as disrobed on the EP Eternal Championz and LP Taste the Radness. New live DVD of hotz knights of Spectrum action (with Nation Blue, Further, Black Level Embassy & Grand Fatal) available at all shows.

And fresh from the fires of Brisbane comes I HEART HIROSHIMA on their debut tour. Having already performed with the likes of Deerhoof, Calvin Johnson, Broken Social Scene and Sekiden - and with their debut EP 3 Letter Word for Candy out in March there can only be added sparks to the sweetness.

* MU arrives finally... Phew!

Some of you may have heard that MU never appeared at the Gold Coast Big Day Out. This was due to flights being grounded over the past few days due to a severe snowstorm that left 10,000 people sleeping in Narita airport.

Finally after spending 10 hours strapped to a metal tube with wings sitting on the runway awaiting a green light it finally took off late last night to deposit MU in Brisbane early this morning (although her husband Maurice Fulton is still stranded in Japan awaiting a new flight).

To avoid any confusion, MU will appear at all other scheduled shows (see below). Apologies for any inconvenience. Have fun.

“The closest thing we’ll get to seeing the Hendrix Experience.” - Inpress Magazine, Melbourne

Brant Bjork - desert boogieman - decided to find a band to back his trip. The Bros is what they’re called . . . The Bros are what they are. (And that is Bros as in "rhymes with Afros, just so we get the pronunciation correct). Dylan Roche on bass, Mike Peffer on drums, and Cortez on guitar. “Make no mistake . . . we’re a real band” Brant says. Musically speaking The Bros bring it. Organic Rock. It grooves. It Flows. It’s psychedelic. It’s tough. It’s beautiful. It’s classic.

Brant Bjork hails from Palm Desert, California where he began gigging at the age of 13.

By high school Brant had begun Kyuss with locals Josh Homme, Chris Cockrell, (later Nick Oliveri) and John Garcia. Kyuss became the first desert rock band to achieve international success by spearheading a musical movement that brought heavy and psychedelic sounds back to rock and roll and served as a prototype for all “desert/stoner rock”.

In 1993, Brant left Kyuss and moved to Humboldt to flip pizzas and play soccer. Too much rain moved him back to his natural habitat where he started an independent record label, El Camino (now Duna Records), played drums in hardcore punk band De-Con; and played guitar with desert legend Mario Lalli in Fatso Jetson.

In 1996, Bjork hooked up again with Homme, to begin the DESERT SESSIONS saga and work on what became Queens Of The Stone Age. However, Brant decided to take the road less travelled and rock with his surf buddies Fu Manchu, an adventure which took him into the studio for five records and around the world in four years.

In 1999 Brant released his first solo record, 'Jalamanta,' on Man's Ruin Records. Bjork's follow-up and heaviest record, 'Ch'e', was recorded and mixed in three days and truly captures his classic rock & roll roots.

In 2002, he released his third solo record, 'Brant Bjork & The Operators' on Duna Records - This record convinced us that Cheech & Chong and The Cars must have had a love child…named Brant Bjork.

On his fourth solo record, 'Keep Your Cool', he rocked, swung and soared to new heights by cutting through the petty and getting back to the sweaty. This record takes you from insightful, unconcealed testimonials to getting laid in the back seat of a Trans-Am.

With the momentum of these four highly diversified albums under his belt, Brant took an even more interesting turn with his most introspective and laid back record to date, 'Local Angel'.

Now we have the latest instalment 'Saved By Magic', his first release with his Brothers of Rock. It is a musical celebration of the roads and rituals to inner and outer freedom. A 19 track, 2CD monster, featuring songs like the fab 'Make the Pony Trot', '73', 'Kiss Away', and 'Let the Truth Be Known'. Along with a couple of guest guitars from desert legend, Mario Lalli, a dusty version of Cream’s 'Sunshine Of Your Love', and insane custom cover art, BB and the Bros boldly go where few bands go…. They’ve been saved by magic. Have you?

'Saved By Magic' double CD out now on Shock Records

Over the past year and a half, Tegan & Sara's career trajectory has been on a dramatic rise. So Jealous was released in September 2004 to a wave of critical praise from The New York Times , Los Angeles Times , Entertainment Weekly , Spin Magazine , Village Voice , amongst many others. The album made Rolling Stone's Top 50 of 2004, and garnered late night television appearances on “Late Night with Conan O'Brien,” “The Late Late Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Touring non-stop since the release of So Jealous , Tegan & Sara have sold-out venues across the globe , opened for The Killers and were invited to perform at this year's Coachella and Lollapalooza festivals. The first single off So Jealous , “Walking With a Ghost,” charted at alternative radio, and was recently covered by The White Stripes for their latest single.

Tegan and Sara
made a great impression during  both previous Australian tours, most recently where they travelled out here to support Little Birdy in August of this year. After only three and a half shows together, though, Little Birdy had to withdraw from the tour due to singer Katy contracting a viral flu, leaving her unable to sing. Tegan and Sara soldiered on, though, and played all but one of the scheduled dates to very enthusiastic audiences.

Known for their  timeless songwriting and hilarious onstage banter, Tegan and Sara 's third Australian tour is now confirmed, including their first ever show in Perth...

THE HAUNTED
"the single greatest exponents of balls-out metal in the world" – Kerrang UK Magazine.

EUROPEAN THRASH KINGS RETURN TO AUSTRALIAN IN MARCH With SPECIAL GUESTS - EXODUS.

Setting foot on Australian soil back in 2003 for the 1st time saw the mighty Swedes batter the Australian masses to a pulp with their trademark thrash riffs and unyielding rhythms.

Touring constantly throughout 2005 with several European and US tours under their belts including a 3 month stint on the prestigious OZZFEST in the US, this supercharged machine will be raging out of control by the time they hit Australia.

No force can abolish the memory of what THE HAUNTED's 1998 self-titled debut album accomplished when it hit the streets. Its solid sense of purpose galvanized the band's presence on contact, with countless publications lauding them as "Newcomer Of The Year" and earning the prestige of the only debut album ever to receive "Album Of The Year" honours from Terrorizer Magazine.

They’ve staged an upheaval not only in the Swedish metal scene but also around the world by setting a new standard for truly innovative thrash metal.

They’re latest opus rEVOLVEr recorded @ Studio Fredman (Arch Enemy, Opeth) is part abandoned and wild, part immensely controlled and sophisticated and

- above all - loud, rampaging, and prone to aggressive introspection of the human condition. Part sociologist, part moralist and part philosopher.

Frontman Peter Dolving and his all-encompassing rage have not faltered.

Brutally honest and brilliantly eloquent, he maintains a sharp observational distance and possesses bone-deep empathy for characters corrupted or forsaken by society. The immeasurable craftsmanship and profound musical unity of the twin Björler Brothers' bloodline is extremely evident.

Intrinsic to THE HAUNTED's chemistry is chief alchemist Jensen's songwriting prowess and intuitive foundation of rhythmic finesse, while Per Möller Jensen's drum work deems him inhuman (again) through his unerring sense of timing and violent meticulousness.

Offering no apologies for its consciousness-raising, this album's first track says it all: NO COMPROMISE.

rEVOLVEr Out now on CENTURY MEDIA thru Shock Records.

EXODUS gained huge attention in the international Heavy Metal underground when bursting on to the scene back in 1982. Armed with innovative song writing and explosive live shows, EXODUS brought Bay Area Thrash to the world and inspired many bands, among them METALLICA, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL (respectively MACHINE HEAD).

In 1983 guitarist Kirk Hammet left the band to join METALLICA.

With a career now spanning well over 2 decades with various line-up changes and a number of solid and underrated releases, EXODUS in this century never sounded do damn good. In 2003 they released the ultimate comeback album "Tempo Of The Damned" to critical acclaim. Not resting on their laurels, they headed back to the studio with a refreshed line-up that includes the infamous drumming skills of Paul Bostaph (ex SLAYER, FORBIDDEN) bringing forth their latest offering "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" released in October 2005.

No one is safe this will definitely be THE THRASH gig of the year!!!

To invert 2006, Sheffield based electronic marauder Mu is coming to Australia with a vengeance...

Her most recent album 'Out Of Breach' (Manchester's Revenge) was released in 2005 on graphic designer Trevor Jackson's label Output Recordings. Utterly unique, 'Out of Breach' unleashes a sonic assault of demented discoid punk, twisted beats, and screeching vocals, with its demolition of traditional musical boundaries. From acid squelched demented tributes to 'Paris Hilton' soaked in crazed chicken squawks, to appeals to 'Stop Bothering Michael Jackson' Mu and partner Maurice Fulton have whipped up a squeal like surrender monkeys to cream her ruff-house onslaught.

Mu is singer and performance artist Mutsumi Kanamori. Her debut album 'Afro finger And Gel' was one of the most surprising and acclaimed debut albums of 2003, and was featured as DJ Magazine 'Album of the Month', and included in the Top 10 Album's of 2003 by the highly respected and influential US music website Pitchfork Media.

* EMBER SWIFT - Australia / New Zealand tour in August
* DAYSEND - recording a live DVD, and welcome original 'Severence' guitarist back to the fold
* NEW ACTS - We welcome three new acts to the roster... see below for details

Toronto's Ember Swift is both an individual singer-songwriter and a dynamic trio. Alongside of Ember's elastic jazz vocals and lush acoustic guitar are layers of electric violin, bass guitar, drums, percussion and vocal harmonies.

Most notably, Lyndell Montgomery, with infectious charisma and musicianship akin to wizardy, has been performing with Ember Swift for over seven years. On drums and percussion, Adam Bowman. Together, they combine folk, jazz, funk, punk, world (ranging from Middle Eastern to Spanish to Eastern European), pop, classical and reggae. They travel fluidly between genres and easily shrug off any attempts to cloak their music in a style category. Their "style" cannot be contained.

Ember Swift and her band speak their minds and their truths boldly and without fear from stages across Canada, the U.S. and Australia. Their songs shed light on issues such as globalization, consumer awareness, food politics, disengaging from capitalist greed, feminism, queer politics, racism and environmentalism.?

All seven of their independently released albums on their independent record label "Few'll Ignite Sound" weave politics and poetics in and out of daring musical arrangements. They are proud independent artists, by identity not default.

Ember Swift will be visiting Australian shores for an extensive national tour in January 2006 and a number of appearances at the Woodford Folk Festival, in support of the release of a new DVD 'Witness; Live In Australia'.

* TEGAN & SARA - Australia / New Zealand tour in August
* HAYSEED DIXIE - Australia / New Zealand tour in October...
* KARL LARSSON - Australian tour in August
* CHILDREN OF BODOM - Australian tour in October

With Tegan and Sara you can never really be sure what is going to come out of their mouths. Their first word as babies was a four letter one according to family legend, and since then the only thing that's changed is that now people pay to hear what they have to say. If you want to hear their legendary onstage stories along with some new four-letter words, buy a ticket to their live show.

They are touring Australia for the second time in August,  this time for a much wider tour supporting Little Birdy nationally.

They made a great impression during their last trip which saw them play live on The Panel & Channel V as well as tons of media & radio, as well as club gigs in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane.

Known for their onstage banter, Tegan and Sara have tried to isolate themselves on opposite sides of Canada to avoid fighting; Tegan lives in Vancouver , BC and Sara resides in Montreal , Quebec .

Tegan and Sara were born in Calgary , Alberta , Canada . Tegan's childhood dreams included being a clown, working as a veterinarian with polar bears in the Arctic and being a rock star, of course. Sara wanted to be a lawyer and live in Boston strangely enough. Tegan is impossibly stubborn, while Sara is good-natured and loveable. They have toured with many bands and performers over the course of their career, including Hot Hot Heat, Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright, Neil Young, The Killers, Weezer and Ben Folds.

From the fertile valley of Deer Lick Holler , deep in the heart of Appalachia , comes a sound that is old yet new. In an area completely isolated from outside cultural and musical influence, this band of acoustic musicians grew up playing the traditional music of their forefathers. Then, as fate would have it, one crisp fall afternoon a stranger passed through the holler. Well, he almost passed through.

Unfortunately for him, but fortunately for appreciators of great music worldwide, the stranger crashed his muscle car into a stately old oak tree at Devil's Elbow curve. Sadly, the stranger expired, but his legacy lives on. In the back seat of his car the boys found a box of old vinyl records as they went through his belongings looking for some identification. The name of the band on the records was AC/DC, and though all they had on which to listen to them was an old Edison Victrola that only played at 78 R.P.M., the boys all agreed that it was mighty fine country music - a bit different, but mighty fine just the same.

In memory of the stranger who had perished, the boys set about learning these new songs, injecting elements of their own traditional mountain style. And thus, from these unlikely beginnings, an entirely new musical and cultural synthesis was set in motion. Rockgrass was born. As if the Creator Himself had uttered, "Let there be Rockgrass!"

Hayseed Dixie toured Australia in May 2003. While they were here, they owned the place, appearing on more radio and TV shows (including Rove), and in more press, than you could poke a stick at.

Having just wound up a hugely successful tour of the UK, including a fantastic set at the Glastonbury festival, where the Hayseed boys are now national heroes and sex symbols, the band will be returning in October to promote their latest release "A Hot Piece Of Grass"...

To quote Hayseed Dixie's singer, Barley Scotch: " We ain't even started drinking yet. We've just been on a recon mission so far. Now we know where the party people around the world are, and we're coming back to close the deal." A promise, no doubt ....

Get some, at these fine establishments, in October....

HAYSEED DIXIE albums 'Let There Be Rockgrass' & 'A Hot Piece Of Grass' out now on Shock / Cooking Vinyl

After several international album releases and constant touring with his band Last Days Of April, Karl Larsson wanted to try a different approach for his solo album by scaling down the production and not worrying too much about the timing of the record or the expectations that automatically accompany each new LDOA release. During 2004, LDOA played over 100 shows worldwide and as the band leader and main songwriter of the band, Larsson also had to take on the responsibilities as the band's spokes person and organiser. In that sense “Pale as Milk” is a very different project, sprung solely out of personal preferences and desires.

Karl Larsson's music has always been characterized by honesty and openness. And “Pale as Milk” is no exception – the mix and production tells of a human warmth that is difficult to mask with a multi-layered production and vocal effects.

What differs “Pale As Milk” from previous recordings is that the album doesn't share the same struggle for perfection that can be seen in most of LDOA's productions. All the songs on “Pale as Milk” were written, arranged, produced and recorded by Karl Larsson himself, before receiving the final touches in the mix by Grammy award winner Pelle Gunnerfeldt (The Hives, Sahara Hotnights etc). This album was born out of spontaneity and Karl wants that to shine through in the entire production.

The song writing is mainly characterized by smart pop melodies rather than being bound by trends from a certain time. Something that makes the album difficult to place and define. Influences can be traced back to 80's pop music, while the approach to certain songs stem from indie guitar heroes such as J Mascis. But Karl Larsson is also an obvious part of a Swedish indie pop-tradition, alongside as diverse bands as Popsicle and Fireside. A frustration that expresses itself in an almost impressing restraint.

Larsson's lyrics display a simplicity and straightforwardness that never comes close to trivial or boring, but that puts the focus and tone on a resolute – but never hopeless – insight of the world, and the love between people.

“Pale as Milk”  is released this week on Bad Taste Records / Dimension Entertainment.

KARL LARSSON is touring, solo & acoustic, over the next couple of weeks. check here for details...

Living or…

As the juggler hurled the pieces around it was only a matter of time before it all fell back together heralding the Regurgitator Lives tour. They are among us.

Meanwhile…

The disc was fashioned from the available elements, forged from layers of compressed plastic into an object of meaning. The survivors were left with no choice but to release this under the gaze of their unforgiving instigator. The missing relic PRETTY GIRLS SWEAR in all its glory was wrapped with the single modified I WAS SENT BY GOD… that left many confused over which way to turn. Hurtling along with this heavenly match was THE ROCK among other artefacts; one of these being the 34 minute ambient mutilation PILLOWHEAD, captured in the bubble at the height of its exhibitionist paranoia.

We were left to just ourselves and the sound.

Yet the fever of youth left many blinded to the vividness of THE MINT CHICKS. And as regurgitator lives so do these lords of the fly – we all stood laughing and not one of them had to f**k the golden youth to get there.

As conditions changed there was opportunity for SNOWMAN to set the airwaves to fright.

In a world where cultural diversity is considered to be a choice of products or food, and crisis is just another entrepreneurial opportunity… they live!

* HARD-ONS 21st birthday Australian tour - BLACKIE, PETE, RAY & KEISH touring together

It's late 2003, and Norwegian homo-supremacists Turbonegro are headed towards Australia for their first ever tour. And on whom should the honour of supporting this legendary band fall on but Sydney's the Hard-Ons, riding high on the success of their ‘Very Exciting!' album. But the connection between these bands runs deeper than a few obvious musical similarities: Turbonegro are huge Hard-Ons fans. Snappily-dressed guitarist Pål Pot Pamparius used to send them fanmail, and bassist Happy Tom was so into them so that for two months straight in 1987 he listened to nothing but The Hard-Ons.

This shouldn't come as a surprise, however. The Hard-Ons can proudly name Mike Patton, Dave Grohl and Dennis Lyxzen among their many fans. Not to mention John Stanier and Page Hamilton from Helmet, ex-QOTSA member Nick Oliveri, Tom Gabriel Fischer of Celtic Frost, The Damned's Captain Sensible , At The Gates/The Crown/Nightrage/Disfear frontman Tomas Lindberg (who also used to play in a Hard-Ons cover band with Ludwig from The (International) Noise Conpspiracy), Pan Sonic's Ilpo Väisänen , Tim Armstrong from Rancid, The Distillers frontwoman Brody Dalle and pop singer Kate Ceberano.

In 1992, Ray, Blackie and Keish teamed up with ü ber-fan Henry Rollins for a run of shows together as part of that year's Big Day Out sharing headline billing with Violent Femmes, Nirvana & Ratcat. The tour was perfect to promote their version of ‘Let There Be Rock', with Hank doing his best Bon Scott while the band tackled AC/DC's signature tune in a typically irreverent fashion, which they recorded together in 1990 after the Hard-Ons supported Rollins Band on their first Australian tour in 1989. Malcolm Young gave the version the stamp of approval.

At the Big Day Out the following year, The Hard-Ons were joined by Poison Idea's Jerry A on guest vocals: Jerry had been a huge fan of the band and was actually one of the first people to send The Hard-Ons fanmail. And if The Hard-Ons hadn't broken up in 1995, this “guest vocalist” thing may have continued with none other than Jello Biafra taking the mic.

All this (and much, much more besides) from three guys who met at high school in Punchbowl, gave their band the most obnoxious name their then fifteen-year-old minds could think of, who have never been signed to a major label nor tasted the forbidden fruit of commercial success (at least, not in their homeland). Who can play to 28 payers at a pub in Ryde one week, and headline a sold-out London Astoria the next.

And all the while, despite 17 consecutive #1's on the Australian Alternative charts and impressive alterantive chart positions around the world, commercial success always managed to elude them.

And now, in 2005, The Hard-Ons turn 21. Time to break out the baby photos and tell embarrassing stories. Or, failing that, to embark on a nationwide tour that reunites them with original member Keish (who quit the band several years ago and was replaced by Pete Kostic of Front End Loader and Regurgitator fame) who will be joining the band onstage to perform a few of their “hits”. Keish will be joining the current line up, seeing the Hard-Ons perform as a 4-piece at all shows. “We hate nostalgia,” says bassist Ray Ahn, “but we just wanna part ways with the old Hard-Ons in a fun way, do something that is once and once only just for fun.”

And what could be more fun than sharing in the 21 st birthday celebrations of Australia 's best punk band?

Check the band's dates here.

* BUTTERFINGERS sign a licensing deal for with Festival Mushroom Records
* THE HOT LIES sign a worldwide recording deal with Liberation Music
* THE HOT SNAKES to tour Australia for the first time, supporting the "Audit In Progress" album

Festival Mushroom Records are ecstatic to announce that Brisbane's finest - renowned for their energetic and quirky live shows – BUTTERFINGERS, has signed a licensing deal with the label. Dave Crane from Valley Trash said the following about the signing: “After six months of negotiations we reached an agreement that will be advantageous for all parties. The band will continue to make independent music with the full support of the Festival Mushroom team”.

Michael Parisi, Managing Director of Festival Mushroom Records adds: “My ass is red raw but any band who can write a song with the lyric, ‘Your Mama's on the top of my things to do list' deserves a recording contract…End of story!”

Brisbane's hip-hop trail-blazers, Butterfingers , comprising of members Eddie Jacobson : vocals, guitar, samples; Olly Thomas : percussion, samples, vocals; Dave Crane : bass, vocals; and Damien Green : drums, vocals; have already begun their assault on 2005, kicking off the year performing at the Big Day Out nationally and releasing ‘Everybody's Jesus' – described as a Double B-side on steroids…It's a mini four-on-the floor rock epic…It's a tragedy wrapped in a good time had by all…It's pure Butterfingers.

From their humble beginnings in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley nightclubs, Butterfingers have been going from strength to strength as they forged a name for themselves with their infectiously manic and unconventional Hip Hop/Rock sounds.

May 2004 saw the release of Butterfingers debut album ‘Breakfast At Fatboys' to an extremely receptive Australian public and media alike. The album was produced by ARIA award winner Magoo and debuted at #15 on the ARIA Australian Release chart and #2 on the AIR chart. It was given a healthy kickstart by Triple J who presented it as a feature album while offering up continued support with song rotation for 6 album tracks. Earlier this year the tongue-in-cheek ‘Everytime' and the anthemic ‘I Love Work' found top 40 spots in the JJJ Hottest 100 (#38 & #15 respectively) and the cage door was let open just enough to let the monster that is ‘Yo Mama' loose on an unsuspecting radio audience.

Butterfingers have been blazing a trail through the Australian live music scene for over three years now. An opening spot on the main stage of Livid 2003 earned Butterfingers a whole lot of brand new fans and kept their existing ones captivated with a selection of songs that would feature on their long player debut. The more consistent and widespread the touring became, the bigger and more responsive the crowds got and in 2004, life on the road became a constant. Over the last 12 months the band has played alongside acts such as Spiderbait, Regurgitator, Machine Gun Fellatio, Koolism, The Herd and Downsyde as well as headlining the notorious 2004 Valley Fiesta where they were shut down after 3000 punters tried to make their way into the Valley Mall to catch a glimpse of Brisbane's favourite new band. The bands 2004 touring schedule culminated with a national tour with Machine Gun Fellatio in November and performances at Woodford Folk Festival and The Falls Festival. To top off a manic year Butterfingers were nominated for an ARIA award in the Best Independent Release category.

The band will head back into the studio shortly to record Album #2 with acclaimed Australian producer, Magoo. The album will be released nationally on Valley Trash records through FMR.

“Brisbane's Butterfingers played one of the vibiest sets of the day. Similar to their pioneering hip-hop brethren the Beastie Boys, the tight four-piece meld hip-hip, rock, ska and thrash metal into distinctly Australian anthems, and had the large crowd singing along to their Suicidal Tendencies-meets-Public Enemy-meets-Eminem sound.” - Melbourne Big Day Out Review, The Age (VIC), 1.2.05

Liberation Music are pleased to announce they just have signed a recording deal with hotly tipped Adelaide rock act THE HOT LIES. The band have made a huge impact on the national scene in little over a year, gaining major Triple J support for their debut EP Streets Become Hallways and taking their fearsome live show on the road with 28 Days, Grinspoon, After the Fall and Alexisonfire. The Hot Lies are currently writing material for their next release.

"the existential slam-dance soundtrack of the year" - MOJO

''astonishingly powerful and utterly direct rhythms, the band's guitars lurch and leap around the beats..These snakes are burning hot...'' - KERRANG!

This is how two of the UK's most influential music mags, MOJO & KERRANG!, described the Hot Snakes Peel Sessions recording late last year, which was also to be the last official Peel Session broadcast before the recent passing away of DJ legend, John Peel.

It captures the Hot Snakes at their finest, doing what they do best - playing their songs with the visceral energy that has made them so notorious across the live music scene.

Hot on the heels of the recently released, and critically acclaimed Audit In Progress album, come the band's new Peel Sessions album which, in turn, brings the band to Australia for their first ever tour.

Hot Snakes are bi-coastal, down-stroke enthusiasts! A deviant throb of wailing gits, bombastic low-end tinkering, jet propelled drums and swarthy vocals. Maudlin punk at it's finest.

Hot Snakes are a blast of thick air amongst the current brown swell of watery pap. They are ministers of high velocity turbulence and aren't afraid to beat a note to death.

Whether it's revelling in the highest DSPM (down-strokes per minute) ratio available on modern wax or simply committing minor offences of originality, the band is dedicated to having fun with what tools they have before them. Deafening and damaging dubious deeds done at a decibel distorting degree.
Ugg!

Featuring members of Rocket From The Crypt & Drive Like Jehu, and with influences such as Groundhogs, Suicide, Flamin' Groovies, Crime, Michael Yonkers, Turkish Psychedelic & Asian acid blues creeping into their music, and with audiences all over the northern hemisphere scrambling for words to describe the "pissed power" they have just witnessed as they walk out after a live show, already these shows are unmissable.

BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE....

Not only will you get a kick-ass set from Hot Snakes, THE TREMORS & GRAND FATAL will also be along for the ride.
The Tremors released their debut album, "Cash Up Front, No Kissing", last year to critical acclaim and national radio play. They toured like crazy, upset a few people, pleased even more people and spread their disease all over the country. They don't get to tour all that often, but when they do they bring it!!!

GRAND FATAL, hot off the national tour with Grinspoon & Shihad and with the new single "Chaser Eraser" sitting nicely in the top end of the Australian Independent charts, they will be joining the fun for these three shows before taking some well earned time off.

* KIM BARLOW to tour Australia for the first time

Shock Records & Custom-Made Touring are pleased to announce the debut Australian tour for Yukon Territory artist Kim Barlow, coinciding with her first locally released album.

Kim's latest album ‘luckyburden' is a collection of songs about work, love and mixed blessings in Keno City , the center of Yukon silver mining from 1914 to 1989. People immigrated from all over the world to make their lives in the remote, northern, mining town perched high in the Gustavus Range , 400km north of Whitehorse .

ABOUT KIM BARLOW

Kim Barlow was born in Quebec and raised in rural Nova Scotia . She graduated from Florida State University with a BA in music. She taught herself to play banjo beside a campfire in the Yukon and from there embarked on a musical journey that has taken her from Inuvik to the UK ; and from Martha's Vineyard to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival. Along the way Kim produced 3 CDs and one son. Her second CD, ‘Gingerbread' was nominated for a Juno award (Canadian Grammy) in 2003 in the roots/traditional category. Her son hasn't been nominated for any awards yet. He wants to be a firefighter.

Kim came to our attention via her compelling sets at the Western Canadian Music Alliance festivals in Regina , Saskatchewan in 2003 and Calgary , Alberta in 2004. Her stories of life in the Yukon (total population 30,000, of which 22,000 live in Whitehorse ) were quite simply some of the most honest we have had the pleasure of hearing, and her playing is something to witness. Wry and impassioned, Kim's songs are deft distillations of the beautiful and absurd world she inhabits.

Kim's first tour of Australia kicks off at the Port Fairy Folk Festival on March 11.

We know Australia is going to be as captivated by Kim's shows as so many other people around the world already have.

* ASHLEY MACISAAC to tour Australia for the first time
* ISIS to tour Australia for the first time
* REGURGITATOR, BUTTERFINGERS & THE D4 added to the BIG DAY OUT line up

Ashley MacIsaac is, in a sense, the musical representative of the pre-millennial generation of Eastern Canada. An ardent traditionalist (and cousin of international Celtic performer Natalie MacMaster) with a penchant, nevertheless, for experimentation, this 29-year-old Nova Scotian native has been taught to play the fiddle the working-class, pub-stomp Cape Breton way: fast, furious & with phenomenal precision.

Alternately considered a rebel, taking the old fiddling conventions in newfangled directions they were never meant to go, or a champion, reforging and recreating Celtic music with an updated, mass-appeal quality, MacIsaac has unarguably put his own spin on the sounds he was brought up with. This headstrong approach has led to MacIsaac working with an impressive array of talent: David Byrne, the Chieftains, Mary Jane Lamond, and others. Already considered something of a local legend and prodigy by the time of his impressive 1992 debut Close To The Floor, MacIsaac was not really introduced to Canadian audiences at large until he released the genre-bending Hi!, How Are You Today? in 1995. Along with nation-wide radio play for the first single, "Sleepy Maggie," featuring the dream-like Gaelic vocals of Mary Jane Lamond, and a regular slot on Canadian video channel MuchMusic, MacIsaac was soon recognized as something of a minor national icon.

His ability to cross the boundaries of folk, punk, garage rock, and metal, all bound together by his astonishing fiddle-playing, branded him as an eccentric, an upstart, and in many cases, a pioneer. Additionally, his refusal to conform to a quick and easy "studio image" earned him a solid fanbase. In 1998, MacIsaac released his follow-up to Hi!, How Are You Today?, a more traditional return to form entitled Fine!, Thank You Very Much. In 1999, he again pushed the boundaries of stylistic conformity with the electronic- and ambient-tinged Helter's Celtic. Following a departure from A&M later that year, the fiddler recorded the independently released Fiddle Music 101, an album of traditional instrumentals made with Halifax fiddler David MacIsaac, and he re-released his 1993 album, A Cape Breton Christmas. A move to Decca Records eventually produced 2003's accurately titled Ashley MacIsaac.

With a live album on the way later this year, and a new studio album early 2005, and having just completed a European tour with Philip Glass where he played to up to 10,000 people per night, Ashley is heading to Australia to play at Ballarat's Eureka Festival in December, and is stopping off in Sydney to play a very special, intimate show at The Vanguard in Newtown.

After two EPs (Mosquito Control on Escape Artist and The Red Sea on Second Nature), ISIS issued their first truly definitive recordings via 2001’s Celestial (Escape Artist) and its companion EP, Sgnl>05. The stunning Oceanic would follow in 2002, marking the beginning of the band’s relationship with Ipecac Recordings and earning Album of the Year accolades from popular UK metal mags Terrorizer and rocksound.

While tours of the US, Europe and Japan with (and at the behest of) underground legends such as Melvins, Mogwai, Dillinger Escape Plan, Dälek, Fennesz, Neurosis and Napalm Death solidified Isis’ standing as masters of live performance, special engagements at 2004’s All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in East Sussex, England (curated by Mogwai)—and, most recently, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles—attest to ISIS’ reputation as avant-metal visionaries.

The band has just released their third full length album Panopticon (Ipecac / Shock) which has been hailed as "...the pinnacle of ISIS’ considerable sonic achievements to date; a sprawling epic that will cement their place in underground legend the world over."

ISIS will be touring Australia, for the very first time, in February 2005.

Along for the ride will be special guests, Sydney hardcore noisenik's THE STOCKHOLM SYNDROME, in their first shows in almost a year.

* FUNHOUSE FESTIVAL - cancelled
* But... THE BRONX - announce replacement Brisbane club show
* MIDTOWN - first Australian tour, starts this weekend
* ALEXISONFIRE - Canada's hottest hardcore band for first Australian tour in November

The organiser of the FUNHOUSE Music & Arts Festival regrets to announce the cancellation of the Brisbane event, which was to be held on October 23, 2004.

FUNHOUSE event promoter Peter Walsh, cites that due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to make the painful decision to call the festival quits for this year.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to the bands involved, supportive media, punters who have pre-purchased tickets and to all others affected by this decision.

Tickets will be available for refund at point of purchase. :(

Sat 23-Oct will see MXPX, Lagwagon, The Bronx, After The Fall and The Spazzys join forces in an evening of fine wine, good friends and a little bit o' rockity roll at the Arena.

The Bronx have been hailed as one the hottest acts to emerge from the City Of Angels in many years, a live show which comes at you at a 100 miles an hour and leaves most gasping in it's wake....MXPX- these guys have been staples of the scene for many years and are returning to Australia on the eve of the release of their new DVD. You can count on hearing a decade worth of tunes including "Everything Sucks", "Chick Magnet" and more. Lagwagon, well what can I say- it's bloody Lagwagon, they're back, they will be in Brisbane and you'd be mad to miss it! Joining the above will be Australia's own After The Fall and The Spazzys. Both had been 'round for ages but this year their hard work and respect for the rock have paid off and they will be giving their US compatriots a run for their money.

So get off your computers and grab a ticket for this very special cultural event.
Smoking jackets and monocles optional...

Tickets on sale now from Rocking Horse, Skinnys & Ticketek. 18+ only - SORRY KIDS

The awesome Butch Walker produced "Forget What You Know" is the major label debut from Midtown and is their 3rd full length record. "To destroy everything you have so you can break all identification with it, understand the meaning of loss and failure, and finally create space to start anew. I re-evaluated everything I had previously thought and embraced the emptiness of life. I let go of everything I once believed". Hence the album title: Forget What You Know.

After a blistering start on Drive Thru Records with the release of "Save The World, Lose The Girl",
Midtown have had the uncanny ability to connect on an intensely deep level with their fans and take with that a frenetic live show Midtown have graduated to become one of the fastest rising acts in the world.

One of the biggest hardcore acts in the world is set to blow Australian crowds' minds on their first tour here.

Alexisonfire (pronounced Alexis-on-fire) is massive in their native Canada, having debuted at #6 on the national Canadian charts with their new album 'WATCH OUT!' and achieving Gold status in just 3 months since release. The success to date has been based on word of mouth, a hectic touring schedule and through huge exposure on major Canadian music channels for the clips for 3 tracks from the debut self-titled album.

The clip for 'Waterwings' was recently given the prestigious Ripe Clip on Australia's Channel V and with the local releases of both the debut album and 'Watch Out!' through Shock Records and selling extremely well, word has started to spread like wildfire for the band in Australia as well.

The description of the band as a screamo act goes only part of the way to explaining what markets this band attracts, with their dual vocalists and metal-tinged guitar attack. This tour is going to set the foundation for this hugely in-demand band to become a regular visitor to our shores.

Special guests on all 3 shows will be I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN, THE HOT LIES and MERE THEORY. Specifics of other bands on the bill appear below.

These shows promise to be amongst the most talked about of 2004.

Tickets go on sale October 14, 2004.

* REGURGITATOR BREAKING GLASS - OUT OF THE BUBBLE & ON THE ROAD

The sounds of the square were nothing more than a daze in their lives... was it all an illusion?

Regurgitator emerged from their sell-contained bubble after 21 days of torment on the evening of Tuesday September 21 and performed on the stage in Fed Square. What seemed like 3 months, as against 3 weeks, Regurgitator along with producer Magoo, engineer Hugh and TV Host Jabba entered a window of opportunity dropped in Federation Square, where the reality of the situation was captured by Channel [V] in a 24/7 voyeuristic excursion into documenting this haywired recording process. Over this exaggerated period of anxiety and exhibitionism Quan, Ben & Peter managed to get their heads around the music, and had the first single The Drop released to radio week commencing September 13. A charged-up hip-pop hyphenated conjunction of good times and microphone bitch jam. Drop out and tune up to the ice cube… a crazed slice of street beats, sweat, dirt and squirm. Hands up now and step away from the mic…

The Band in a Bubble project in Federation Square was an interactive multimedia installation; a cross between a ‘recording studio’ and a living room; an intimate venue for the exhibition of human behaviour and musical creation.

Over the next weeks Regurgitator, aside from learning to live in a world without glass boundaries and not constantly walking in circles, will compile and complete the album due for release on NOV 8. Over the coming months as noted below they will also perform a series of lives shows including Homebake in Sydney on Dec 4 and the Rock It Festival in Hong Kong over October 23/24 with an appearance in a film and an additional club date there.

The Drop was recorded live on air during the first week of September, mastered on September 13 and released to radio immediately becoming the 10th most added song on Australian radio in a matter of days covering this process. The video was filmed and edited over this period and also released to national TV the same week. Crazy.

Regurgitator's BAND IN A BUBBLE
Reality is dead. Music is dead. There is a dead horse lying in the "middle of the road" and we intend to give it a right good flogging.

Regurgitator has a long history of trying hard to buck the system that feeds them but as of August 31, they will give themselves over to the system, exposing themselves to the machinations of the "culture industry" whilst still getting to wear the pants.

In partnership with Channel [V], Regurgitator are sealing themselves in a transparent, "fishbowl" studio to record their new album and show the world (well a viewing segment of the world) how the creative process is ultimately both destructive and hypnotic, liberatory and constraining, beautiful and very ugly. By creating a panoptic platform for their public, they will give themselves over to their viewers/fans/citizens and allow the intrusive eye of the public to pierce their "bubble".

Regurgitator have always enjoyed unsettling themselves to record their albums - in a Thai popstar's house in Bangkok, an abandoned warehouse in Brisbane, a coastal retreat in Byron - but when their manager suggested that they imprison themselves in a very public place as both performance and inspiration, they acquiesced knowing that the "band in the bubble" will ultimately test their strength as both friends and collaborators. Like Hitchcock extras, they will be locked in with no escape from each other and ultimately themselves. We think it will be very entertaining and endeavour to amuse ourselves at their expense. Trapped for twenty-one days with each other and a plethora of cameras recording every twitch as they rush to record an entire album, they will give themselves to us like no band has given before.

The "band in the bubble" will burst onto Channel [V] half hour daily from August 31, and 24/7 live feeds from the inside on Bubble T[V] Foxtel digital cable 802 and via the websites www.bandinabubble.com and www.regurgitator.net (via the webcam icon)... and and in public portals across Australia...

AUGUST 31 - SEPT 21 FEDERATION SQUARE, Melbourne - live on Channel [V], Foxtel digital, the internet and wherever else we can get...

Regurgitator & Channel [V] presents BAND IN A BUBBLE supported by Optus, FOXTEL Digital and X-Box

BRANT BJORK & THE BROS tour announced for SEPTEMBER 2004

DEAD MOON return for another Australian tour to launch their new film

REGURGITATOR to release new EP and hit the road again for brief club tour
* FRANKENBOK head out on their first New Zealand tour through August

Brant Bjork hails from Palm Desert, California where he began playing live gigs at thirteen.

By high school Brant begun Kyuss with local bros Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, and John Garcia. In 1991 Kyuss was signed to Elektra and became the first desert rock band to achieve international success by spearheading a musical movement that brought heavy and psychedelic sounds back into rock and served as a prototype for all "desert/stoner rock".

In 1993 Brant left Kyuss and moves to Humboldt County to flip pizzas and play soccer. Too much rain moved him back to his natural habitat where he started an independent record label, El Camino Records (now DUNA records); played drums in hardcore punk band De-Con; and played guitar with desert legend Mario Lalli in Fatso Jetson; only to come full circle and hook up with old friend, Josh Homme, to begin the critically acclaimed DESERT SESSIONS saga.

It was at this time that Bjork and Homme began working "a new thing" which became Queens Of The Stone Age.

However, Brant decided to take the road less travelled and took an offer to rock with his old surf buddies Fu Manchu, a rock adventure that took him into the studio for five records and around the world several times in four years.

Since then, after feeling the need to embark on his own personal musical journey, Brant Bjork has released 4 solo albums (1999's JALAMANTA, 2000's CH'E, 2002's BRANT BJORK & THE OPERATORS & 2003's KEEP YOUR COOL). Some of these albums have been described as follows:
"...certainly has underlying rock elements, but is more an embodiment of fluidity in motion between bebop jazz, break beats and Rasta grooves. Bjork plays all the instruments on the record and sings with such unbridled soul and conviction it not only confirms Bjork as one of the baddest rock drummers of our time, but also legitimizes him as a premier talent on all levels." - for JALAMANTA

"...demonstrated Brant's capabilities indicative of his formative years being spent in the 80's underground and creates a low-brow, hi-fi approach to traditional new wave. If Cheech & Chong and The Cars had a love child, it would be Brant Bjork." - for BRANT BJORK & THE OPERATORS

"This record takes you from sweet caresses on the beach to getting fucked in the back seat of a trans-am. Brant combines the straight forward rock and roll approach of CH'E, the stoner pop feel of the Operator's first record, and the loopy grooves of Jalamanta that once again has Brant Bjork leading the most innovative fast-forward throw back rock & roll since the Ramones." - for KEEP YOUR COOL

With the momentum of these four highly diversified albums under his belt, Brant Bjork takes an even more interesting turn with his upcoming release, LOCAL ANGEL. His most introspective and laid back record to date, this album clearly assures us that Brant Bjork is fist and foremost a songwriter, with drums taking a quiet backseat on this one. His bittersweet lyrics and warm vulnerability allows us to feel pains and emotions generally untapped in rock music. LOCAL ANGEL reminds us all that although Brant Bjork is still a stoner, he is also a lover!

And now, BRANT BJORK is bringing his band THE BROS (Mike Peffer (drums), Dylan Roch (bass), Mr Cortez (guitar)) to Australia for the first time in September 2004.

With special guests, Byron Bay's FORT (formerly FORTE) these 4 shows are certain to be some of the most memorable rock & roll shows seen here in quite some time.

The world’s most defiant rock n roll band DEAD MOON return to Australia to introduce the Australian premiere of the documentary 'Unknown Passage: The Dead Moon Story’ at this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival. Dead Moon will play three select Melbourne and Sydney live shows while in the country.

’Unknown Passage: The Dead Moon Story’ is filmmakers Kate Fix and Jason Summers loving tribute to the band, beginning with founder Fred Cole’s roots in the 60’s psychedelic garage music and culminating with a feast of performance footage from across the globe — Latvian Biker rallies to a smokin’ gig in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Formed in 1987 by husband and wife duo Fred (vocals, guitar) and Toody Cole (Bass), with Andrew Loomis (drums) this three piece group take the DIY ethic to a new level - from building their house from scratch, to pressing their own records and touring the world on shoestring budgets.

Worshipped by rock fans across the world, Dead Moon are a major inspiration for both the grunge and neo-garage movements. Their first release, 'In The Graveyard' was recorded in a regular studio, however all subsequent recordings have been made in Fred and Toody’s house and in the main released on their own label ‘Tombstone Music’. Their home made records are cut on a mono disc cutter Toody bought Fred for his birthday – the very same machine that cut The Kingsmen’s classic ‘Louie Louie’ in 1963.

Genuine, raw and defiant against all odds, DEAD MOON are the unsung heroes of primitive rock and Roll.

Bomb in my Eye...

We are young, good looking and we are your heroes. Don`t you admire us? Look at us? Lay your haaands on the radio, brothers and sisters, and feel the heeeeaaaling power of the weird!

Regurgitator explode in your face, raise a chair for the giant action movie hero, and cut wry on the pure war porn. Liberated from the confines of corporate excuse, experimental pop abusers not a threat or a danger when stuck inside the house, where moving mountains needs more than a face. They speak... you listen, an immediated quandry of imagination strapped up in a scold’s bridle. Lifestyles of the glitch and lamearse disembowelled at a hectic pace... getting stoned in the suburbs, getting naked in the dark. Not my usual behaviour to be staring into space, the outer results of the inwardness of imagination... things are getting a little strange in here as we blow the bubble up bigger than thought possible.

So to fact...

July... new promo single Bong in my Eye available from website www.regurgitator.net (under reconstruction). Available as a 4 track CD mailorder or a download.

August... on tour in a tag team try out with Sydney`s white-boy of torment, SPOD (per shows noted below)... a roman-greco bear hug of musical intervention. With a oneoff special no-holds barred, ring pummeling mash-up at THE STUDIO in Sydney whereby Regurgitator and Spod will unite in a white hot flash of collaboration never to be repeated again

September... beware the bubble.
